When it counts as a breach of the by-law, how to report it and what the municipal police can deal with on the spot.

What is night-time quiet?
In Karlovy Vary, night-time quiet runs from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. under a generally binding by-law. Outside these hours, noise is assessed case by case according to how much of a nuisance it causes.
When to call the municipal police
- 10 p.m.–6 a.m.: disturbance caused by music performances, people behaving loudly, motor vehicles or building work.
- Outside night-time quiet: repeated, long-lasting noise (parties, sawing, mowing the lawn on Sundays and public holidays, and similar).
How to report it
Call the operations centre on 353 153 911 or 156 and tell us:
- The location (exact address).
- The nature of the disturbance (music from a flat, from the street, from a restaurant).
- How long it has been going on.
What does the Karlovy Vary Municipal Police do?
An officer comes out to the location, assesses the situation and, if a breach is confirmed, orders the person responsible to stop. Repeated breaches are dealt with as a minor offence (a fine of up to CZK 10,000). If the noise comes from an event licensed by the city, the municipal police only monitor compliance with the conditions laid down.
